Putting my Pins to Use

This week I finally put my "pins" into action! I saw these ideas on Pinterest this weekend and on Monday, I put them to use! Above: pre-packaged, individual healthy snacks! I have a saying I always say to myself in my head "HELP YOUR FUTURE SELF! YOU'RE FUTURE SELF WILL THANK YOU!" (For example, when I pack the lunches the night before, then in the morning I am SO thankful I do not have to scramble and put lunches together)! These pre-cut, pre-packaged snacks work for both lunches and after school snacks and so far (the past 24 hours) the new system has worked flawlessly and I continue to thank my past self for doing this!!
So, this will (hopefully) be my new Monday morning routine  I typically do my grocery shopping on Monday morning, but I will shop with re-stocking our snack pile in mind now. Then when I come home, I will chop and pre-package the snacks for the rest of the week. Above: the Monday morning organizing and packaging! Not pictured: I did the same system for non-fridge items (individual packaged crackers, pretzels, etc).
grapes, carrorts, apples, string cheese, hummus, hard boil eggs, edamame, cantaloupe.
I made more than what is seen here, but put the extra behind the box in the fridge so I can easily re-stock.
I am personally loving this because it helps me to stick with my diet with more ease. Today for lunch I had turkey wrapped in the 50 calorie string cheese, a hard boiled egg and hummus. It took me thirty seconds to prepare which was perfect because I only had about thirty seconds to eat it before I had to run the kids off to an activity!
Another reason for putting this idea into reality is for Katie. We are trying to help her to become more independent  Our kitchen is not very accessible but we want to work with what we have. So I re-organized the fridge and cupboards to put the snacks on her level. Now, she can get a snack herself when she is hungry and not wait for someone to get her a snack. We did the same thing with water. We bought a Brita and put it on the bottom shelf and put cups in her reach, so she can now get water with more ease!

Also, on Monday I cleaned out the bathroom drawer to make room for this idea I saw on Pinterest! Using a silverware organizer as a family toothbrush holder!

Bam! Everyone has a set spot for their toothbrushes!
This might help my husband remember which toothbrush is his... sometimes he forgets and uses mine on accident (are you gagging)! That may or may not have happened last week and even though I love to kiss him, I do not care to share the same tooth brush! So this pin obviously needed to take action sooner than later!

Thank you Pinterest!!!

Hello Sunset walk on the beach with the littles
Daddy teaches early morning Seminary (Bible Study) to the local high school students before he goes to work each morning. Katie was watching a movie, but these two had the wiggles, so we went on a walk so daddy could plan his Seminary lesson and Katie could watch her movie.

Hello sweet little Bunny Gracie.

Hello Bed of Nails that Bryant braved!

Hello trying to help those in need.
It has been so cold here in Southern California so on Friday, my dear friend Sally and I partnered up with a local thrift store who gave us a great deal on coats, sweatshirts, blankets and sleeping bags! Then we took them to city hall where many homeless people live. We were able to pass it all out, but did not have enough for everyone, it broke our heart. We hope to gather more items and take over at least one thing for everyone. Let me know if you are local and would like to get involved in this, we for sure need more help next time! e-mail me if you are interested litlepenelopelane {at} hotmail {dot} com

Hello Spring Boutique coming up!

Insta Friday Disneyland Edition

We had one of those super magical Disney days this week.
The kind where we said "Oh, we need to get a 'it's my first visit' pin for Baby Penny."
BAM!!! A worker walks up to me and said "I heard you were looking for one of these" and hands me a "It's my first visit" PIN!
WHAT! How do they do that?
Disney Magic, I tell ya!
My little family of five had a blast going with my brother, his sweet wife and their daughter Penny and my mom! It was such a fun and special day.... but we took a few people out with our two wheelchairs and strollers. This crew is a hot mess!
(My brother had bone cancer when he was a teenager, resulting in a metal bone in his leg and his knee does not bend too well.... so on long walking days, he uses a wheelchair).

Love when Daddy gets to come to Disneyland with us! He is so much fun!

Speaking of fun! It's been forever since we've gone on a fast ride together. We had extra adults with us this time, so we were able to get a little Space Mountain fun in...

These girls met Merida for the first time and they were thrilled!
Carter, however, was not as thrilled!!
Hands down, favorite new ride!!! This new cars ride was out of control fun!!

AND THIS ride was so fun we had to ride it twice!

It was such a fun and magical day! One for the memory books for sure!

Then on our way out I had an experience I hope to not forget.
I met a sweet man named Mike and his Warrior Mother.
I wrote about it over HERE (on my family blog).

P.S. only FOUR more days to apply for the Penelope Lane Spring Boutique.
Details on the boutique blog HERE.
